A child remains unaccounted for after a horror house fire overnight Tuesday in Toowoomba, Queensland.

Police said six people escaped the property — including a man, 34, woman, 36, and four children — when flames engulfed the home.

A crime scene has been declared as investigations get underway.

Emergency services were called around 12:30am to reports the Merritt Street address was on fire.

When fire crews arrived, the house was fully alight.

The woman and two children have been taken to Toowoomba Hospital with critical injuries.

The man was also transported to Toowoomba Hospital with serious injuries.

A fifth child remains missing.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, and police are appealing to anyone who may have information or relevant vision to come forward.
