Unemployed shock jock Kyle Sandilands has revealed that his friends rallied around to lend him money after losing his $10 million radio contract.

The former Kyle and Jackie O host touched on his finances in an interview for Karl Stefanovic’s eponymous podcast on Sunday.

The two sacked media personalities combed over the controversy of the axing of Sandilands’ KIIS FM show.

“My friends are offering bags of money, ‘Do you want a million dollars’, ‘Do you want this’, ‘What do you need’. I was like, ‘Thank you but no’,” Sandilands told Stefanovic.

He revealed that after losing his multimillion-dollar deal, he received a “surprising” call from his bank.

“The bank call was refreshingly surprising, they couldn’t have been better,” he said.

“Cos I’ve always thought these guys are a**holes when you’re at your worst that’s when they kick, stab, stab, that’s what I thought, it’s like a jailyard pile-on.

“But they were great.”

Sandilands said he was only one year into his ten-year plan — and had spent $3 million on holiday home renovations — when his job was terminated.

“I know I look flashing it all around and pi**ing all the money away but we’ve actually got quite a good investment portfolio, property portfolio, company shares.

“But you can’t liquidate that and I’d just spent about $3 million on renovating holiday homes and some other big monster I’m building out in the mountains, ‘Oh boohoo poor Kyle’.

“But that was part of the 10-year plan. I was one year into the 10-year plan and then due to someone’s bad mood that all fell apart I’d imagine.”

Sandilands said he was still didn’t really know what had triggered the sensational downfall of the successful radio program.

“I’m not sure why, still don’t know the real reason, won’t speak to Jackie until she’s finished with her court proceedings.”

He hit out at “trolls” who rejoiced in him losing his job.

“People would think, ‘He’s crushed’. There are people rejoicing and stamping all over the death and the ashes of both of us. But let them. They’ve got very little joy in their heart, those trolls.”

Stefanovic billed the interview as Sandilands “fighting back against assassination culture” after the radio veteran revealed he had received death threats.

“There was death threats, letters in my office explaining, ‘If you ever do anything on any platform, we’ll kill you, we’ll hunt you down’,” Sandilands said.

“I know these people are lunatics, but what if just one of those lunatics has a weapon? Do you ever think about that?”

Sandilands said the shooting of an insurance CEO in New York in 2024 was an example of “assassination culture”.

“All these loons feel empowered that they can go and take out a CEO of a health care company in America on the streets of New York,” he said.

“We’ve all got extreme mates … we’re probably our mates’ extreme mates. But we need to be based in some sort of correct assumption of what life’s all about, we can’t be having all these extremes.”
