How two Aussie tradies built a skincare brand

Two brothers from Dubbo are hoping to change the way Australian tradies think about skincare, swapping life on the tools to become skincare entrepreneurs.

Beau and Zac London launched their own men’s skincare brand after struggling to find products they felt suited blue-collar workers, with the idea beginning after Beau borrowed his mum’s pink clay face mask during the Covid lockdowns.

The brothers say they copped plenty of jokes at first but were surprised by the support they received from fellow tradies. They built the business while juggling multiple jobs, packing customer orders from their parents’ spare room before eventually turning the start-up into a full-time venture.

Their story comes as more Australian men embrace skincare, with almost five million now using skincare products (a 20 per cent increase over the past five years).

Beau and Zac believe major beauty brands have overlooked tradies, saying products should be designed by people who understand the realities of working outdoors.

Health experts say the message extends beyond appearance. Men are around twice as likely to die from melanoma as women in Australia, while tradies are exposed to significantly higher levels of ultraviolet radiation than indoor workers.

The brothers hope encouraging tradies to “slip, slop, slap” and look after their skin will help protect workers both now and into the future.
