HBO has fed into the never-ending spiral of rumours, theories and speculation about season six of its hit show Game of Thrones by releasing a teaser trailer for the next season online.

The 41-second video, which was shared on Twitter on Friday morning, reveals little about the series’ return in April 2016.

Instead, the trailer shows a montage of the most harrowing moments from season five, with an ominous voiceover.

“We watch, we listen and we remember. The past is already written, the ink is dry,” the voiceover says.

The trailer concludes with a shot of Brandon Stark, the second youngest son of Ned Stark whose war abilities allow him to enter the minds of animals and humans.

“They have no idea what’s going to happen,” Bran declares.

Too right, Bran. Too right.
