The White House has released details of US President Donald Trump’s “perfect” MRI test.

It comes after he told journalists on a flight from Florida to Washington that the details would be made public.

“If you want to have it released, I’ll release it,” Trump said on Sunday (local time).

He added that the results of the October test were “perfect”.

On Monday, after that exchange, the White House released a memo from Trump’s doctor saying that medical imaging was done on his cardiovascular and abdominal systems and that both showed “perfectly normal” results.

“President Trump’s cardiovascular imaging is perfectly normal. There is no evidence of arterial narrowing impairing blood flow or abnormalities in the heart or major vessels. The heart chambers are normal in size, the vessel walls appear smooth and healthy, and there are no signs of inflammation, or clotting. Overall, his cardiovascular system shows excellent health,” Dr Sean Barbabella’s memo says.

“His abdominal imaging is also perfectly normal. All major organs appear very healthy and well-perfused. Everything evaluated is functioning within normal limits with no acute or chronic concerns,” the memo continues.

The note said that “advanced imaging was performed because men in his age group benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt read the memo out at a briefing on Monday.

Earlier she had said that Trump had “advanced imaging” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre “as part of his routine physical examination” and that the results showed Trump remains in “exceptional physical health”.

Concerns had been raised by outside doctors after the visit to Walter Reed. It was described by the White House as a routine follow-up visit, although it was Trump’s second visit in six months.

On Sunday, he said he had “no idea” on what part of his body he got the MRI.

“It was just an MRI,” he said.

“What part of the body? It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and I aced it.”
