Long-running animated comedy South Park has continued its ridicule of US President Donald Trump by announcing it has changed its name to South America.

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of ‘South Park’ to ‘South America’,” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone said on Tuesday (US time) ahead of the premiere of the show’s 29th season.

“We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount – a Skydance Capitulation,” the pair wrote.

The announcement follows Trump’s repeated executive orders to change names of major US geographic bodies to include America in the name.

Last week, he announced that his administration would refer to Lake Ontario as Lake America amid a trade dispute with Canada – a decision quickly adopted by Google and Apple Maps.

Trump also shared a video on social media that indicated the state of New Mexico could soon become New America, and has previously decreed that the Gulf of Mexico has switched to the Gulf of America.

Parker and Stone’s name-change statement is the latest in their long-running use of Trump and his administration as the butt of South Park‘s jokes.

Earlier this week, the show’s social media account mocked Trump after winning an Emmy for outstanding animated program.

It was the animated show’s first Emmy since 2013, when it won the same category.

South Park was recognised this year for its July 2025 episode Sermon on The Mount, which mocked Trump and his supporters.

The premiere showed a fictionalised version of the President in bed with Satan, and ended with a deepfake of Trump walking naked through the desert.

The episode prompted a furious response from The White House.

The scene with Trump in bed with the devil harks back to the 1999 movie South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, which featured Satan in a relationship with Saddam Hussein.

“You remind me more and more of this other guy I used to date,” Satan tells Trump in the 2025 episode.

The episode also lampooned Paramount, which was the subject of an acquisition by Skydance Media, which is headed by Trump supporter David Ellison.

The latest Emmy was South Park‘s fifth as a series. It was also recognised in the outstanding animated program (for programming less than one hour) category in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

Trump – a former reality show star – is yet to win an Emmy, despite being nominated in the past.

Season 29 of South Park (or South America) premieres on Paramount+ on September 17
