Tiger Woods has been banned from driving for five years — with a judge warning that he will “go back to jail” if he gets behind the wheel.

The golfing great faced Martin County courtroom for his DUI case stemming from a dramatic rollover crash in Florida earlier this year.

Woods struck a plea deal for a lesser charge and pleaded no contest.

He arrived at court flanked by his partner Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jnr, and sat quietly in court.

Judge Darren Steele ordered that Woods’ driver’s licence be suspended for five years, with no exceptions.

“If you were to drive for any reason at all, you would immediately go back to jail,” the judge warned.

The prosecutor said he was confident that Woods would be spotted if he defied the ban.

“Of all the people in the world who should not get behind the wheel of a car, it’s one of the most recognisable people on the planet.”

After the hearing, a journalist asked State Attorney Thomas Bakkedahl whether the ban would prevent Woods from driving a golf cart.

“Oh my God, that’s a great question, You know what? You got me,” Bakkedahl said.

“We’ll have to look into that, I’ll get back to you…My gut reaction is gonna be no, but great question.”

In March, the golf icon’s Land Rover clipped a truck and rolled onto its side in a crash on Jupiter Island.

An incident report said he was travelling at high speed on a beachside residential road with a 50km/h speed limit when he crossed to the other side of the road to pass a pressure-cleaner truck but clipped the back end of its trailer.

The accident – 50-year-old Woods’ fourth since 2009 – caused $US5000 ($A6985) in damage to the truck.

Police said at the time that Woods showed “signs of impairment” – including glassy and bloodshot eyes with “extremely dilated” pupils.

They said he was “sweating profusely” while speaking to investigators and they believed he had taken some kind of medication or drug.

A sheriff’s office report said deputies found two pain pills in Woods’ pocket.

Woods, who was described as lethargic, denied having drunk any alcohol. He agreed to an alcohol-breath test which was negative.

He refused a urine test and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He has since pleaded not guilty.

He is due to appear in a Florida court on Wednesday.

Prosecutors later subpoenaed Woods’ prescription records, it has been revealed. Court records also reveal that Woods has since travelled outside the US for treatment at an inpatient facility.
