Disturbing claims emerge of Gaza doctor mistreated in Israeli prison

As global crises compete for attention, doctors from Gaza are urging the world not to forget their ongoing humanitarian emergency.
Dr Yasmeen Abu Fraiha and Dr Hadil Masri have shared their fears for colleagues still working amid conflict, including paediatrician Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, who has been detained by Israeli forces since late 2024.
Abu Safiya’s supporters say he has been held without charge for more than 18 months, and warned his health is deteriorating and he is not the only doctor detained.
Israel has denied allegations of mistreatment.
The visiting doctors say the reality on the ground remains far from normal, despite claims of a ceasefire.
They are calling for greater international attention, humanitarian support and protection for medical workers caught in the conflict.
