The bodies of a woman and child have been found outside a 30-storey high-rise apartment tower.

The woman was found unresponsive outside on Prospect Street in Box Hill, in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, about 6.20pm on Thursday evening.

Police rushed to the scene where they located her body on the footpath and an unresponsive primary-school-aged child nearby.

The pair could not be revived and died at the scene.

The area has been cordoned off with crime scene tape as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

“At this early stage, police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

It’s unclear whether the pair were residents of the apartment complex.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information has been urged to phone Crime Stoppers.
