What a ride
Twenty-two people were left trapped mid-air for hours on a rollercoaster at Knott’s Berry Farm in California, US. No serious injuries were reported.

That’s bananas!
A piece of conceptual art by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan consisting of a banana duct-taped to a wall sold for $U6.2 million (A$9.5 million) at auction in New York.
The buyer purchased a certificate of authenticity, allowing them to duct-tape a banana to a wall and call it the name of the original artwork, ‘Comedian’.
Three editions have previously been sold for between $US120,000 ($184,000) and $US150,000 ($230,000).

Santa hotline opens
Thousands of Aussie children will be able to call Santa’s workshop for free using a Telstra payphone by dialling #HO HO HO (#46 46 46).
The telco has also introduced kid-sized pay phones, available in select Telstra Stores in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane until Christmas Eve.

ParaMatilda’s historic win
The ParaMatildas became the first Aussie football team to ever win a World Cup after beating the US 6-2 in the 2024 International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football Women’s World Cup final in Spain.
The ParaMatilda’s are Australia’s national football team for women and girls with cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury and symptoms of stroke.
