Spider season
As the weather in Australia warms up, spiders become more visible in households around the country.
That was a big problem for two content creators, Josh and Matt, who had trouble trying to catch and release a big spider at their place. Household items were broken during the attempts.

King’s embrace
It’s not often the King hugs mere commoners but it happened this week.
The rare gesture was given to members of New Zealand’s rugby team, the Black Ferns.
“Why not?” the King said, when asked if he was up for a cuddle.
Staying cool in a fire
The airport fire, one of three big blazes in Southern California this week, destroyed homes and burnt tens of thousands of hectares.
Cooler temperatures are forecast this weekend so firefighters should be able to contain the blaze.
Video captured the moment a woman was able to escape after being surrounded by fire.
Chappell Roan lashes out
One of the biggest pop stars in the world, and this year’s break out star of entertainment, Chappell Roan, was in no mood for the pushy behaviour of photographers on the VMA’s red carpet this week.

Typhoon Yagi’s wild damage
Asia’s strongest typhoon of 2024, Typhoon Yagi, killed 179 people in Vietnam this week.
Many more were injured and forced to flee their homes. Some of the dramatic damage can be seen below, when strong winds ripped glass windows from a building in Vietnam.
Now dogs are scared of Trump
Donald Trump shocked the world with his wild claims about immigrants eating domestic animals during his debate with Kamala Harris this week.
“In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats … They’re eating … they’re eating the pets of the people that live there.
“And this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.”
The claims have been widely panned as false. Many dogs, like this one, were clearly worried.
Phone, or tablet, of the future arrives
The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, a tri-fold smartphone, made waves this week. It even managed to cut through the same week Apple released its new AI system and iPhone 16 handsets.
When fully unfolded, the Mate XT Ultimate is like having a tablet in a phone, with a 10.2 inch diagonal span.
Italian wonder strike
Over in Europe, in a UEFA Nations League game, Italy scored one of the great goals of 2024.
The volley finish came from Federico Dimarco, but the touches in the build-up play from his teammates were just as impressive.
It was described as an “amazing wonder goal” by prominent soccer journalist Tancredi Palmeri.
Sydney screamer
Back in Australia, Sydney superstar Isaac Heeney took one of the greatest marks of all time in the Swans qualifying final victory over GWS.
His opponent, Jack Buckley, was also praised for holding his wrist on the way down so Heeney did not land on his head.
Heeney was best on ground, also kicking a goal from 70 metres out in the last quarter to help his side complete their comeback victory.
Dramatic rescue
Hurricane Francine left the south-east coast and capital regions of Louisiana shaken and soaked this week. Luckily no deaths were reported.
A dramatic rescue took place during the hurricane, caught on video, when a man named Miles saved a person trapped in a vehicle that was almost totally under water.
