Man drowns at popular western Sydney swimming spot

A man’s body has been found at Lake Parramatta in western Sydney.

Emergency workers were called to the area just before 6.30pm on Monday after reports the man went underwater and didn’t come up.

Police said his body was found in the water about 9.30pm after a search involving water police, paramedics and a rescue helicopter.

The man, believed to be 23 years old, has not been formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Body found in Sydney Harbour

Earlier, the body of a man reported missing after leaving an inner-city bar has been found in Sydney Harbour.

The 26-year-old was last seen after a night out in Barangaroo shortly after 3.30am on Sunday.

He was reported missing about 6pm that evening.

Following extensive inquiries and a multi-agency search with help from NSW Police’s Marine Area Command and PolAir, a body was found in the water about 12.45pm on Monday.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the 26-year-old man.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
