A teenage boy is fighting for his life after a terrifying ambush outside a Melbourne school, as police seek the perpetrators.
The 14-year-old was confronted by “unknown offenders” outside Glen Eira Secondary College in Glen Huntly on Monday afternoon.
Police said the boy was forced into the vehicle — a dark grey Volkswagen Tiguan — at about 3.35pm.
The car then drove off along Neerim Road with the teenager still inside.
“A short time later the victim has come out of the moving vehicle, in unknown circumstances, near the intersection of Grange Road and sustained significant injuries,” police said in a statement.
“He has been taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.”
The Herald Sun reports that a student said he saw the victim lying on the ground, coughing up blood as onlookers called for help.
Police are investigating if the case is linked to an earlier incident where two offenders armed with machetes robbed four teenagers in nearby Kambrook Road about 3.25pm.
Anyone who witnessed either incident, has CCTV or dashcam footage or any other information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
Anyone who sights the vehicle involved should call Triple-Zero (000) immediately.
