Female body found floating in Melbourne river

Victoria Police have recovered a female body found floating in a river in Melbourne’s north-west.
The body was located in the Maribyrnong River by a passer-by just before noon Thursday, Victoria Police spokeswoman Leading Senior Constable Lee Thomson said.
The Homicide Squad was on scene, and the cause of death is yet to be determined, Ldg Sen Constable Thomson said.
The body has not been formerly identified.
Ldg Sen Constable Thomson said police are waiting for results of a post mortem to determine whether the death was suspicious.
Investigations continue.
