Rapper Nicki Minaj teased as next White House press secretary

Nicki Minaj as White House secretary? The idea may not be as wild as it sounds, after the rapper joined Donald Trump on stage at a campaign rally â and had her âassâ complemented as she did so.
Minaj and Trump have exchanged compliments throughout his second US presidency.
Back in January, she declared herself his âNo. 1 fanâ while, in more recent months, he described her as âa great friendâ.
On Sunday (US time), Minaj travelled with Trump on Air Force One to a campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan. They were there to support Republican candidates in Michigan, a key battleground state in next weekâs US midterm elections.
âPresident Trump, it is an honour to stand with you every single time, and I will continue to support you forever and ever. If you run again, I will support you again,â Minaj said on stage with Trump.
The US constitution bars Trump from seeking another term as president. But that hasnât stopped him or some of his supporters from suggesting he could or might run again.
On Sunday, however, he returned the compliment in a rather more graphic way.
âI looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before â Nicki Minaj,â Trump, 80, said. âThatâs hard to miss.â
(âI hope Nicki wasnât insulted,â he added.)

Minaj has worked with the Trump administration on several initiatives â including the debut of childrenâs saving scheme dubbed Trump Accounts.
White House communications director Steven Cheung has even floated the possibility of Minaj serving as the next Trump press secretary. The post is vacant after Trump last week sacked former Fox News commentator Katy Zacharia after a disastrous few days in the job.
âLadies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary! @NICKIMINAJ,â he wrote on the social platform X on Sunday alongside a video of him and Minaj seated aboard Air Force One.
In the video, Minaj describes Trump as âa man whoâs won three electionsâ. Thatâs a reference to Trumpâs repeated claim â despite no proof and numerous lost court cases â that the 2020 presidential election won by Joe Biden was âriggedâ.
â[Trump] wakes up at 4 oâclock in the morning. He outworks people that you know are half his age, and, you know, what does that say about his character? He knows that he will be fine,â Minaj says.
âHe can kick his feet up and just, you know, chill out for the rest of his presidency. But no, heâs paying it forward.
âHeâs thinking about the other Republicans that have to win during these elections, and so that tells me that heâs a great guy.â
Minaj posted her own video on the way to Michigan â a video with the hashtag #AirForceOneBarbie.
Despite her support for Trump, it is unclear whether the singer can actually vote in next weekâs US elections.
The 43-year-old was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to the US as a child. Newsweek reports that she said in a 2024 livestream that she wasnât a USÂ citizen, although she has also revealed she is working towards it.
âFinalising that citizenship paperwork as we speak, as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President,â Minaj wrote on X in January.
âI wouldnât have done it without you. Gold Trump card free of charge.â
But submitting the paperwork alone does not make someone a US citizen. Minaj has not publicly confirmed completing the process, which includes taking the Oath of Allegiance.
