Police in Scotland are investigating the time former Prince Andrew spent at the King’s private estate at Balmoral with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
The Daily Express reports the inquiries relate to claims women were “trafficked” to the beloved estate in the Scottish Highlands, where royals traditionally spend summer holidays.
“We have received information and active enquiries are ongoing but these are at a very early stage,” said a Police Scotland statement.
“All enquiries are evidence led, with the needs of victim survivors at the heart of those enquiries.”
In February, Scottish police said they were “keen to speak to anyone with information” about Epstein’s private jet — dubbed ‘Lolita Express’ — flying into Edinburgh airport in 2006 with Andrew and Maxwell on board.
Photos have emerged in recent years showing Epstein and Maxwell at Balmoral, a vast and rugged 50,000-acre estate which includes a castle, moorlands and golf course.
A famous picture of Epstein and Maxwell, believed to be taken in 1999, reveals the pair sitting outside a wooden lodge, reportedly thought to be the ‘Honka Hut’ — which Finland gifted to the Queen — in Balmoral’s Ballochbuie Forest.

The picture was released during Maxwell’s trial on sex-trafficking for which she is spending 20 years in prison in the US.
Material also emerged when the US Department of Justice released the so-called Epstein Files in late 2025 and early 2026.
One image shared earlier in 2026 appeared to show Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on a shooting trip at the estate with Epstein.
Among the files was also an email sent to Maxwell referencing Balmoral and written by someone who signed off ‘A’.
The message, dated 16 August 2001, begins: “I am up here at Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family.”
The email writer asks: “How’s LA? Have you found me some new inappropriate friends?”
It was signed off: “see ya A xxx”.
In February this year, Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested and held for hours by British police in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office related to his links to Epstein.
It was the first time in nearly four centuries that a senior British royal had been arrested.
Balmoral Estate was thought to be the late Queen Elizabeth’s favourite residence and it is where she passed away in 2022.
Town and Country says the King has followed in his mother’s footsteps, spending summers at Balmoral in the first three years of his reign.
