Prince Harry ‌and his wife, Meghan Markle, ‌are reportedly planning to relocate with ‌their children back to Britain this month, six years after they stepped ‌down ‌from their royal duties and moved to California.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are relocating with ‌Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, to ‌Britain for an extended period and the children will begin school there in September, People magazine and ‌British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported on Thursday (Australian time).

The couple will make their home in a non-royal residence outside of London, the reports said. They have also apparently enrolled their children in schools ahead of the new British school year, which starts in September.

The move gives Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, their first home base in Britain since they gave up the lease on Frogmore Cottage, the Windsor residence gifted to them by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2023.

Spokespeople for the couple had no comment.

It is understood there will no change to Harry and Meghan’s role and status as private individuals and non-working members of the royal family.

Harry’s father, the King, was told the news on Sunday. He is understood to welcome the opportunity to see more of his younger son and his family.

Harry’s estranged brother, Prince William, and his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales have also been informed.

Harry and Meghan’s status will remain the same, with the couple not being offered a “half-in-half-out” option when it comes to their roles.

They are said to be keeping their $20 million California home. It was bought in 2020 after the couple quit royal life and moved to North America.

They will also keep a holiday home in Portugal.

The move comes just weeks after the Sussexes returned to Britain with their children for a successful summer visit that included Archie and Lilibet’s first reunion with their grandfather in more than four years.

The two children have been to Britain only twice since their parents’ move to California.

Archie was born in Britain while Lilibet was born in California.
