Celebrities scrambled as a single egg beats Instagram record
A simple photo of a chicken egg has in-egg-splicably just become Instagram’s most-liked post.
The sole image served up on the anonymous @world_record_egg account had surpassed 20 million likes at the time of writing, easily exceeding the previous record.
It had been posted just under a dozen days ago, on January 4.
Originally posted to the platform on January 4, the image depicts a solitary egg on a white background and a request for birds of a feather to flock together and attempt to make the egg No.1.
Make-up mogul Kylie Jenner hatched the previous record in February 2018 with a photo of baby daughter Stormi Webster which amassed more than 18 million likes.
In the process of poaching the record the egg become the first inanimate object to star in Instagram’s 20 most-liked list. That list is chook-full of heavyweight celebrities including Cristiano Ronaldo, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.
Many social media users have seen the sunny side (up) of this wholesome story, welcoming the new record as an egg-cellent way of turning the celebrities from roosters to feather-dusters.

Jenner appeared to crack up at the record, taking to social media moments after the news broke.
A video posted to Snapchat (and reshared on her Instagram) showcases the 21-year-old breaking an egg on the pavement and launching all-out war on her latest enemy: “Take that little egg,” the caption reads.
The mastermind behind the biggest yolk on the internet has yet to publicly comment on the outcome.
As far as The New Daily can tell there wasn’t any fowl play involved in the record.
