Many tried to guess it, but Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have surprised everyone with their choice of name for their newborn son.

“And his name is… Saint West. 12.05.15. 8 pounds, 1 ounce,” Kardashian West announced in a post to her website on Tuesday.

The name Saint is a far cry from popular predictions, which included Robert after Kardashian West’s late father or Easton, in the same directional vein as daughter North.

In an interview in June, Kardashian West, 35, hinted the couple would not keep up the theme with their next child.

“I think it’s so stupid,” she said in an interview with NPR’s Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!. “I don’t like South West. North will always be better.”

Nor have they kept the ‘K’ theme favoured by Kardashian West’s family.

Saint West will be little brother to North, the couple’s two-year-old daughter.

West, 38, and Kardashian West tied the knot in May 2014 in a lavish ceremony in Florence, Italy.
