Aussies flock to US destinations

The number of Australians travelling to America has doubled since 2006, with 1.2 million Aussies making the pilgrimage each year.
According to a report by the Australian Financial Review, the United States is now the most popular long-haul destination for intrepid Australians.

In cities like Los Angeles, Australian tourists are the second-largest visitor behind only China, spending an estimated $US453 million in LA each year.
The 2013-14 International Airline Activity report shows that Auckland, Singapore and Hong Kong are still the most popular foreign ports for Australians travelling overseas.
The number of Australians travelling to the United States outweighs the amount of Americans coming down under, with only 500,000 Americans making the trip last year.
The United States government says that Australian arrivals will continue to rise by another 25 per cent in 2019.
