Nationals leader Matt Canavan has renewed calls to lower tax on tobacco to combat the illicit cigarette trade and organised crime. Is this a good idea?

• No – we shouldn’t encourage smoking and the tobacco excise offsets the health costs of smokers – 44%
• Not sure why the police aren’t closing down more stores illegally selling tobacco – 33%
• Yes – lowering tax would make illegal tobacco less attractive – 23%
