The PNG quake registered 6.7 on the Richter Scale
There is no tsunami threat from a massive earthquake that has rocked Papua New Guinea, the Bureau of Meteorology advises.
The magnitude 6.7 temblor struck a remote part of northern Papua New Guinea, the German Research Centre for Geosciences says.
The quake on Sunday was at a depth of 65km although initially reported as being at a shallower 10km.
The US Geological Survey said the epicentre was about 30km east-northeast of the small settlement of Ambunti in East Sepik province.
