Donald Trump is back in Disney’s Hall of Presidents, but this time it’s different

An animatronic Donald Trump has returned to Disney World’s Hall of Presidents attraction, resurrecting a conspiracy theory that overshadowed his previous appearance.
The Hall of Presidents at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park in Florida officially reopened this week after its latest refurbishment, complete with a re-elected President Trump with an updated animatronic face.
The had attraction closed after Trump’s inauguration in January so staff could move the 48th US President back to the middle of the stage as the sitting leader.
The Hall of Presidents, which features speaking animatronics of every US president, first opened in 1971. It shuts periodically to incorporate new presidents to its lineup.
But rather than simply move the existing Trump from the back of the presidential ranks to centre stage, Disney has brought in an entirely new model.
Many social media users think they know why.
When Trump first joined the Hall of Presidents after his 2016 election victory, many pointed out that his animatronic face bore little resemblance to the real-life President.
It did, however, bear more than a passing resemblance to Trump’s 2016 Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton.

The appearance of the animatronic, along with the extended downtime before the unveiling, led to rumours that Disney had already made a Clinton animatronic – assuming she would win the election – which was refitted after Trump won.
While Disney never commented on the rumours, the new animatronic is very Trump-like.
Each president since Bill Clinton has provided their own voice to the show’s model, and Trump 2.0 recites his oath of office.
The Trump speech is somewhat shorter than his 2017 effort, which included oath of office as well as speech about the “achievements of the American spirit”.
The Hall of Presidents is not the only time Trump has sparked a Disney conspiracy.
At Florida’s nearby Disneyland Resort, part of the Disneyland 70th anniversary castle sculpture was replaced in May because guests thought a silhouette of founder Walt Disney looked too much like the President.

The sculpture featured a silhouette that was meant to represent the iconic Partners statue at Disneyland that depicts Mickey Mouse holding hands with his creator Walt Disney.
After visitors pointed out the image appeared to have more of a “presidential” styling, the silhouette received a trim more in keeping with the animator.
