Police are appealing for information to locate a mother after the discovery of the body of newborn baby in a garbage bin in Sydney’s south-west on Monday.

NSW Police said officers responded to reports of the grim discovery on Harrow Road, Auburn, about 11.20am on Monday.

They found the body of a newborn boy.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation has begun.

Police say they also hold serious concerns for the welfare of the baby’s mother.

“Officers are urging the mother to attend her nearest hospital to receive urgent care for herself,” NSW Police said.

Anyone with information about the incident or who has relevant dashcam/mobile phone footage is urged to contact Auburn Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
