The man who disarmed one of the gunman during the Bondi terror attack has been caught up on the wrong side of the law after being charged with assault.
Ahmed Al Ahmed, 44, is accused of allegedly putting his father in a headlock on March 9.
NSW Police have confirmed he was charged on Wednesday for common assault and stalking.
“On Wednesday 3 June 2026 a 44-year-old man was served with a Court Attendance Notice for common assault (DV) and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic),” NSW Police said in a statement.
He will appear in Bankstown Local Court on July 29.
Ahmed told the ABC the alleged incident was “fake information … it’s not true at all”.
“I don’t have any information at all,” he said.
He said his main focus was looking after his health.
Al Ahmed told the ABC he would be having more operations on his arm for injuries he sustained in the Bondi terrorist attack.
The tobacconist rose to prominence after video captured the moment he crept behind one of the Bondi gunmen and tackled and disarmed him, slowing the attack and saving lives.
He was shot twice in the arm during the incident.
His heroic efforts garnered worldwide attention with a fundraiser reaching more than $2.5 million.
Al Ahmed was awarded with Keys to the City of Canterbury-Bankstown, where he lives, and Waverley.
He was visited in hospital by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as he recovered from his injuries.
He is due to appear in local court on July 29.
