A NSW man will remain behind bars following the stabbing death of his estranged girlfriend.
Russell Brian Wood, 26, was charged with the murder of Sarah Brown after she was found with a stab wound to the torso in Sydney’s west about 2am on Saturday.
Ms Brown, a mother of five, died at the scene after paramedics were called to a home on Moresby Street, Whalan.
Wood did not appear and did not apply for bail when his matter was mentioned in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.
Bail was formally refused, and he is next scheduled to appear in a Penrith court on November 24.
The killing was the third NSW fatality allegedly linked to domestic violence in less than a week, and one of several alleged domestic attacks scheduled for court on Sunday.
Another 49-year-old man didn’t apply for bail and it was formally refused after he allegedly held his female partner, a baby and a toddler against their will over two days.
Police say he threatened the woman, hit her and cut her hair before she escaped a Cabramatta unit with the children on Saturday.
In a separate incident on Tuesday, Central coast mother Blair Dalton, 35, was strangled and beaten by her former partner Lance Michael Pearce.
She died two days later in Gosford Hospital, and Pearce was found dead in his cell on Friday in non-suspicious circumstances.
An elderly man also died in Sydney’s southwest on Friday morning after he was stabbed.
Steve Bojnovic, 39, is charged with his murder, with his case adjourned in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
