A Tigerair plane flying from Melbourne to Brisbane has been diverted to Sydney after an engineering issue was identified during the flight.

Tigerair said it was a precautionary measure and the flight landed in Sydney without incident.

Engineers are now assessing the aircraft.

The airline has offered passengers free transfers onto other flights.
