An Adelaide woman has paid tribute to her “angel” husband after watching him tragically drown on their honeymoon in Bali.

Kimberley Fuller took to Facebook to share a photo she took on their last night together.

Jacob Vennix, 32, was reportedly dragged out to sea while swimming at Pasut Beach, northwest of Kuta, on Monday at about 3.50pm (local time).

“I took this photo during the last night I had with him,” the grieving widow wrote.

“He was the most beautiful human, partner and father.

“All he wanted was to marry me and love and look after me and the boys.

“I will make sure the boys know what an angel he was. Now an angel in heaven. I love you my darling. I’m so sorry.”

The Adelaide Advertiser reports Fuller watched helplessly and cried for help as a strong current pulled Vennix into rough and choppy waters off the beach.

A local fishing boat heard her calls and attempted to rescue Vennix, but it was hampered by choppy seas.

When it finally reached Vennix, he was pulled into the vessel, but a wave capsized the boat and threw him back into the water, reports the Advertiser.

Vennix eventually washed up unconscious on the shore where his wife frantically attempted to resuscitate him.

The couple had been married in December and were reportedly on their honeymoon.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the Australian man’s death was “such deeply sad news”.

“Our thoughts are with Jacob’s wife, family and friends,” the prime minister posted on X.

Foreign Minister Penny Wong said she was “heartbroken” for Vennix’s wife and loved ones.

“I know all Australians will be thinking of them,” said Wong.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and our consular officials in Bali will continue to provide consular assistance.”
