A 16-year-old girl is among four people arrested – three of them teenagers – after an alleged abduction and stabbing in Melbourne on Sunday night.

The incident involved a silver Hyundai hire car that was reported stolen about 9.40pm from a business in inner-city Northcote.

The company was able to provide a location for the car, which Victoria Police tracked and followed at a distance as a helicopter and the dog squad were called in.

During the pursuit, a man was released from the vehicle at the intersection of High and Bell streets.

Investigators believe the alleged victim, who had injuries to his face, had been abducted and stabbed.

Officers continued to follow the hire car as it drove north. They used tyre deflation devices on Barrow Street in Preston to bring it to a halt.

The Hyundai continued into Bischoff Street, where it crashed into a parked car and four offenders ran from the vehicle.

The police helicopter was able to direct officers on the ground to the offenders and three males and a female were quickly arrested.

Several weapons were found in the vehicle when it was searched.

Those arrested were a 17-year-old boy from Ivanhoe, an 18-year-old man from Preston, a 20-year-old man from Northcote and a 16-year-old girl from Heidelberg Heights.

Last Monday, a 14-year-old boy was forced into a car outside a school in the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Glen Huntly and later came out of the moving vehicle.

Police charged a 15-year-old Cranbourne boy on Sunday night in relation to that alleged armed robbery.

He faces multiple counts of armed robbery, robbery, conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury, theft of motor vehicle and theft.

The boy has been remanded to appear at a Children’s Court at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing.
