The Australian passenger told crew at the beginning of the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Paris that she was afraid of flying with the airline in the wake of the MH17 and MH370 disasters.
The chief-steward allegedly sat beside her on the flight and sexually assaulted her under the pretext of “comforting” her.
French police detained the steward after the plane touched down at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport.
Malaysia Airlines said that they would assist French authorities in their investigation, saying that “the safety, comfort and well-being of our passengers is always our highest priority”.
