Former Home and Away star Melissa George is a new mum, at the age of 49, a post on social media has revealed.
A photo posted to Instagram on Monday (Australian time) shows George breastfeeding a new baby on the French Riviera.
The infant is George’s fourth child.
“From the maternity ward, straight into a Parisian heatwave (with a toddler … challenging) and now to an epic road trip through Provence and the Cǒte d’Azur , first stop Hotel Crillon le Brave,” writes her friend, former Vogue Australia editor-in-chief and former The New Daily style columnist Kristie Clements.
Clements, who also shared the Instagram post, added the tags “super woman”, “mother of four sons!” and “road trip”.
Perth-born George also quietly updated her Instagram biography to read: “Mum to my 4 sons”. There are no more details about the new baby’s name or date of birth.
George got her acting break playing Angel Brooks on Home and Away during the mid-1990s before leaving Australia in 1997 to pursue an acting career in the US.
She went on to build a successful international career, appearing in films such as Mulholland Drive and The Amityville Horror, alongside actor Ryan Reynolds, and hit TV show Grey’s Anatomy. Most recently, she has starred in Apple TV’s Mosquito Coast and the new New Zealand-produced dark comedy Ms X.
George now lives in France and shares her eldest sons, Raphaël, 12, and Solal, 11, with former partner Jean-David Blanc, a French entrepreneur.
She welcomed another son, Lyor Gatsby Gene George, in 2024. She has not publicly confirmed a new relationship and has never revealed the name of Lyor’s father.
“Welcome to the world my little man. Love knows no end. A mother of 3 sons. Cannot believe it. My heart is so full,” George wrote on Instagram at the time.
Famous friends and fans flooded the comments on Sunday’s post with supportive messages.
“Beautiful mother of 4,” wrote French photographer Julia Kovaljova, while another photographer – Amanda Shadforth – dropped three hearts.
“Melissa!!! 4? Brava!!!! Tell me everything!” wrote podcaster Ivana Milicevic.
