Twin recalls for popular Aldi, Coles and Costco products

A recall for a popular Aldi milk product has been expanded to a third state, while a favourite protein dessert is also stripped from supermarket shelves.

One-litre cartons of Aldi’s Farmdale Full Cream Long Life Milk were recalled in Victoria and South Australia last week.

On Monday, that was expanded to two Aldi stores in NSW – Albury and the Albury suburb of Lavington.

“The recall is due to microbial contamination (spoilage),” Food Standards Australia New Zealand said in Monday’s notice.

“Food products that are spoilt may cause illness/injury if consumed.”

The recall applies to one-litre packs of the milk with a best before date of June 5, 2027. No other dates or Farmdale milk varieties, including skim, light, or plant-based, are affected.

FSANZ warns that the milk should not be consumed.

Consumers should instead return it to where it was bought for a full refund. Anyone who is concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

The Farmdale milk range – which is sold only through Aldi – was also the subject of a recall in 2020. That affected full-cream three-litre milk sold in the chain’s ACT supermarkets and some NSW stores due to potential E. coli contamination.

More information is available from Aldi’s food recall hotline on 1800 709 993 or from the supermarket chain’s website.

The expansion of the Aldi recall follows a similar alert issued for protein puddings sold through Coles, Costco and independent supermarkets in Queensland, NSW and the ACT.

Arla Protein Salted Caramel Flavour Puddings in 200 grams have been available for sale at Costco in NSW while a chocolate version of the same pudding has been sold in NSW and Queensland, and through independent food retailers such as IGA and Supabarn in NSW and the ACT.

FSANZ said the salted caramel desserts with a best-before date of April 28, 2027, and the chocolate version with best-before dates of May 9, 2027, are potentially contaminated with glass.

Buyers have been told not to eat them. They should be returned to their place of purchase for a full refund.
