Matildas captain Sam Kerr and her partner Kristie Mewis have announced the birth of their son, Jagger.

The couple, who have been together for four years and engaged since 2023, announced in November that they were expecting.

Kerr shared a photo of them with their newborn on Instagram on Friday, with the caption: “Our little man is here, Jagger Mewis-Kerr”.

The Matildas also welcomed Jagger to the “Tillies fam” in a Facebook post that attracted thousands of likes and hundreds of comments from well-wishers.

Kerr, who has captained the Matildas since 2019 and is a striker for English premier league club Chelsea, met American professional soccer player Mewis at a US National Women’s Soccer League tournament match.

Kerr has been out of action on the soccer field since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury during training in early 2024, but returned to individual training in January.
