David Bowie album gets Instagram mini-series
David Bowie’s last album Blackstar has been transformed into an Instagram miniseries approved by the singer months before his death.
InstaMiniSeries said Bowie gave them “unique pre-release access” to Blackstar, allowing them to create their “own visual interpretations of his songs, with no limits or preconditions on his part”.
A preview of the 16-episode series, Unbound, was released on Instagram overnight.

The project “takes the audience on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album’s music, lyrics and artwork”, InstaMiniSeries posted alongside the preview clip.
It is unclear whether Bowie saw the final result once production concluded in December, just prior to his death on January 10.
A statement on Bowie’s website said: “With his enduring legacy as a savvy observer and pioneering user of emerging technology and media, Bowie saw in InstaMiniSeries an exciting new platform to explore interpretation of and storytelling within his music.”
The series stars American actress Patricia Clarkson and Rookie Magazine founder Tavi Gevinson.
Episodes will be posted on Instagram every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, starting from February 25 in the US.
