One fan, who calls himself Aussie Vader and wears a Darth Vader costume featuring the Australian flag, said he was excited to see the developments in the Star Wars universe.
“I was born in 1977 and I grew up with Star Wars toys as a kid,” he said.
“Now I’m 38-years-old and I’m still playing with Star Wars toys now.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing where Luke [Skywalker] is and what he’s up to.”
Aussie Vader said of his costume: “Back in 2010 I went to the US, I wanted to represent Australia somehow, and this is what I came up with.”

“[The film is] definitely one that I’ve waited for… I’ve watched all the previews,” he said.
He said he was pleased to have passed on the love he has for the films to his daughter.

The ABC’s Good Game presenter Bajo was among the crowd of expectant fans.
“My hopes are so ridiculously high that they cannot possibly be met,” he said.
“But as long as it’s at least good, then I am perfectly happy.”
He said Star Wars is an important piece of science fiction history.
“Those early films they’re just so magical and beautiful, full of fun characters and excitement, how could you not like Star Wars?”
