Dreams by Beck
The artist: Beck is a Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. Perhaps best known for his award-winning 1993 song Loser, he’s a perennial figure in the alt-rock genre.
To the younger generation, he’s also known as ‘the guy who beat Beyonce at the 2015 Grammys’ (Kanye wasn’t happy).
• Song of the week: Better Man
• Song of the week: Panama City
• Song of the week: Here
Dreams is the first single off his forthcoming album, which is currently untitled. It’s a departure from his last album Morning Phase, which won him a Grammy but had a distinctly folky sound to it.
The vibe: Summery electric guitar riffs infused with retro rock beats.
Listen to it when: You want to have a good, old-fashioned jive to a great song – none of that techno nonsense.
Sounds like: Foster the People, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend
