Eligible Qantas customers who had flights cancelled during COVID may be entitled to compensation.

More than one million Qantas customers could soon receive a surprise message – and it’s not a scam.

The airline has agreed to a $105 million settlement over claims it mishandled COVID-era flight cancellations by issuing travel credits instead of refunds.

Eligible customers who had flights cancelled between January 2020 and November 2022 may be entitled to compensation, with payments expected to start once the settlement process is approved.

Customers are being urged not to ignore official emails or text messages about the claim, with some eligible travellers guaranteed a minimum payment of $50, and some potentially receiving more depending on their circumstances.

Qantas has not admitted wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
