Williams sisters in bombshell Wimbledon move

Serena and Venus Williams will play doubles at Wimbledon again this year.
Serena and Venus Williams are bringing their doubles partnership back at Wimbledon.
The All England Club on Tuesday (British time) announced a doubles wild card invitation for the sisters to the tournament, which starts in less than two weeks.
It comes after 44-year-old Serena recently returned to competition after nearly four years away from professional tennis.
Venus, who still competes sporadically, turns 46 on Wednesday.
The Williams sisters have won 14 grand slam titles together in doubles, including six at Wimbledon – the first in 2000 and the last in 2016.
The Williams sisters last played doubles together at the 2022 US Open – their first match together in more than four years. They lost their opening match.
Serena’s last match at Wimbledon was in 2022 when she also needed a wildcard and lost to Harmony Tan in the first round.
Serena won her first doubles match with partner Victoria Mboko at Queen’s Club in London last week but then had to withdraw after Mboko injured her knee in a singles encounter.
She and Karolina Muchova lost 6-4 6-2 to Giuliana Olmos of Mexico and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe at the Berlin Open on Tuesday.
In Nottingham Kim Birrell lost to fifth seed Ann Li 4-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-4.
