Andy Murray and Kim Sears welcome first child

Australian Open runner-up Andy Murray and wife Kim Sears have welcomed their first child – a baby girl – on Sunday.
The pair’s agent announced the good news, keeping mum on the girl’s name but disclosing she weighed in at 3.9 kilograms.
Murray had been concerned that his wife’s birth may overlap with his Australian Open commitments in January, pledging to fly home early should she go into labor.

“My child is more important to me, and my wife is more important to me, than a tennis match,” said Murray in a pre-Open press conference.
“It’s a big change for me and my wife, but that’s the current priority and I’ll see after that.
“I have no idea how that will change things. I still love tennis.”
Luckily, Murray was able to play the final and race home in plenty of time to see Sears give birth in their home town of Surrey, England.
“You have been a legend the last two weeks … I’ll be on the next flight home,” Murray tearfully promised Sears during his post-match interview.
Always vocal from the sidelines, Murray’s mother, Judy Murray, made her elation clear, posting a number of images on social media to mark the occasion.
The first was an image of Murray’s home town post box, which was painted gold after his Olympic gold medal win in London.
“Dunblane baby love xx”, posted Murray’s mother, alongside an image of the post box decorated with pink ribbons.
The famous tennis mum also posted a graphic of two large tennis balls next to a baby tennis ball, with the comment “Tennis family”.
