Wawrinka wins Australian Open final
Stanislas Wawrinka has claimed his maiden grand slam title with a four-set victory over world No.1 Rafael Nadal in a dramatic Australian Open decider.
Wawrinka dominated the first set and continued to call the shots at the start of the second, only for Nadal to injure his back and call for a medical time-out.
Despite looking well short of 100 per cent fitness, the Spaniard was able to win the third set.
But Wawrinka lifted again and won 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-3.
The eighth-seeded Wawrinka had never previously reached a grand slam final.
