Sam Thaiday takes a cheeky jab at dreamy Jarryd Hayne

Brisbane veteran Sam Thaiday has taken a jab at Jarryd Hayne ahead of the Broncos’ finals showdown with Gold Coast.
The south-east Queensland derby will be played at Lang Park on Friday night, but Thaiday was not willing to guarantee two-time Dally M Medal winner Hayne would take his place at the back for the Titans.
“There’s no guarantee in him playing actually,” Thaiday told reporters at Broncos training on Tuesday.
“He might have a dream tomorrow night and leave the game again and take up water polo or something. Who knows?”
Hayne has copped a bit of criticism for his propensity to follow his ‘dreams’ a bit too regularly.
The former Eel left Parramatta in 2014 to pursue his “dream” of playing in the NFL.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to play in the NFL, and at my age, this is my one and only chance at having a crack at playing there,” he said.
Then, when he set his sights on an Olympic rugby sevens berth after an iffy rookie season, his departure sounded a bit too familiar.
“The Olympics has been something I have admired since I was a little boy, and it is an opportunity I feel very similar to me joining the NFL,” he said before missing the cut for the Fijian side.
It is safe to say Thaiday’s shot was just a bit of fun, but considering Hayne invoked Jesus’ name while criticising the media last month, he could take it personally.
