The explicit tweet that got rugby league fans talking
Amidst one of the greatest NRL grand finals, the official Twitter account for the NSW rugby league sent out an alarming re-tweet.
Twitter feeds of the account’s 51,000 followers were faced with a re-tweet from NSWRL containing explicit pornographic material, just before 9pm.
It was deleted “within 60 seconds”, a NSWRL spokesperson told Fairfax. Not quick enough it seems.

A screenshot of the tweet was taken by various users and shared widely on social media during North Queensland’s heart-stopping 17-16 win over the Brisbane Broncos.
It caused reactions of disgust, humour and exasperation.
People were stunned that something so vile could get into the feeds by an official sporting body’s account.
Just apologise and remember to log in to your personal account next time. @NSWRL

The extremely lewd nature of the picture, re-tweeted with the PornHub tweet, led the organisation’s spokesperson to indicate an investigation into the mishap had been launched.
NSWRL said it would look into whether foul play was involved.
“It’s something that we really didn’t want to see on our feed and it’s not something we’ve done, so we’re investigating,” the spokesperson said.
