A seven-point winning margin for the Canterbury Bulldogs has netted one punter a windfall gain of $262,600 on a $100 bet, news.com.au has reported.

Described as “one of the greatest bets of all time” by Sportsbet’s Christian Jantzen, one punter landed a $2625-to-one win on an unlikely result.

The punter, whose name wasn’t disclosed, bet the North Queensland Cowboys would win by eight points against the Wests Tigers – the Cowboys won 8-0.

But the windfall came in the other game, when the Canterbury Bulldogs won against the Canberra Raiders with a late field goal and a try putting them seven points ahead – the punter had correctly bet on the winning margin at $2625-to-one.

“The Bulldogs actually scored seven points in the final minute of their match to get the job done,” Mr Jantzen said.
