It was a bizarre clash, with torrential rain and hail forcing the teams off in the 27th minute after Dragons hooker Mitch Rein made it 10-0.
The break may have re-energised the Roosters who got on the board through Shaun Kenny-Dowall in the 36th minute and it was 10-6 as the teams headed to the sheds in improved conditions.
Two silly penalties allowed Dragons pivot Gareth Widdop to push the lead to 14-6 heading into the final 10 minutes, but a quick Roger Tuivasa-Sheck tap and try saw the Roosters move within two points in the 71st minute.
Michael Jennings failed to handle a James Maloney pass in full flight with the line in sight with just over two minutes remaining and the Dragons were able to hold on for their sixth-straight win of the season.
More to come.
