Eel Junior Paulo out for nine NRL matches

Junior Paulo has been suspended for nine matches after failing to have a grade three dangerous throw charge downgraded at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night.

Parramatta forward Paulo pleaded guilty over the tackle on Manly’s Matt Ballin in the 29th minute of the Eels’ 42-12 win over the Sea Eagles on Friday.

He won’t be available again until Parramatta’s round 11 match with South Sydney at ANZ Stadium.

Melbourne bench forward Felise Kaufusi will sit out a week after being hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge after he attacked the legs of St George Illawarra playmaker Benji Marshall in the Storm’s win at Kogarah Oval on Monday.

Paulo’s suspension opens the way for convicted drug dealer Danny Wicks to make his return to the NRL in the Eels’ clash with Canterbury on Friday night, after five years away from rugby league.
