Gallen, suspended Sharks ineligible for Dally M
The NRL have confirmed that Paul Gallen and the other Sharks players on drug bans will not be eligible for the Dally M awards.
With the players’ back-dated 12-month suspensions set to end in late November, the NRL issued a statement confirming that would make those players ineligible for any end-of-season awards.
Chief operating officer Jim Doyle said the players will be ineligible to receive a Dally M Award or the Ken Stephen Medal in line with the rules for those Awards.
The NRL statement said it would be “a matter for other Leagues and clubs” to determine whether the suspended players are eligible for other awards, such as the Brad Fittler Medal, which come under their jurisdiction.
