Esther Qin won gold for Australia in the 3m springboard diving event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Sunday morning.

Qin pipped Jennifer Abel of Canada and England’s Hannah Starling to gold thanks to a consistent performance off the board.

Her best two jumps came on the third and fourth efforts, with a back 2 1/2 somersault and a reverse 2 1/2 somersault, both of which scored 76.50 points, well ahead of the silver and bronze medalists.

Australia’s Maddison Keeney finished fourth.
