Usain Bolt just can’t stop grinning during important Olympic races.
On Monday, the sprinting legend melted the internet when he shot a cheeky smile toward the cameras during his 100m semi-final. But on Thursday, Bolt went one better.
This time he shared a smile with 100m sprint bronze medallist Andre De Grasse, as his Canadian rival tried to pass him in the last 50m of a 200m semi-final.
The photo, like the one of Monday’s grin, is superb:

Video showed Bolt slow in the race’s latter stages. As that happened De Grasse sped up and the jocularity began.
Mystery of the still head
Italian gymnast Erika Fasana is a world class gymnast. But this bit of vision surprised and stunned many.
While performing a flip during a floor routine, video showed Fasana’s head staying eerily motionless while the rest of her body strained to make the move.
One user on Imgur described the footage by writing: “She’s not flipping. She’s just moving her legs around her head.”

Olympic steeplechase or Olympic limbo?
As eliminations from Olympic events go, this might be the most brutal of the Rio games.
Uganda’s Jacob Araptny, 20, was running in the 3000m steeplechase final. But as the field approached one of the hurdles, he seemed to trip causing his head to smash into it.
He tried to finish the race but eventually dropped out. He was third when the fall happened.
Araptny escaped serious injury. Somehow.

Photo of the day
USA’s Tianna Bartoletta won the bronze medal in the long jump on Thursday.
This photo of her landing is pretty cool. The moment was captured by Wally Skalij.

Aussie ‘slept on the floor’ to get to Rio
Australia’s Joshua Robinson finished 13th in the javelin on Thursday, just missing the final, which took the best 12 competitors.
In April Robinson threw the fourth-longest Australian javelin throw of all time (85.11m), which was also the biggest for six years. That throw sealed his place in Rio. But he had to sacrifice a lot to get there.

To save on accommodation costs while training in Perth, he slept on the floor of a friend’s place, according to the AOC website.
We’re betting Robinson wasn’t one of the athletes who complained to Kitty Chiller about the Olympic Village facilities in Rio.

What to watch on Friday
You simply cannot miss the men’s 200m final. Usain Bolt is trying to become the first man in history to complete the 100m and 200m Olympic double three times.
His main rival is LeShawn Merritt (USA) and Andre De Grasse, who won bronze in the 100m.
Australian Jarred Talent is on early – he bids for gold in the 50km race walk which begins Thursday night and ends early Friday morning.
We also have gold medal chances in the sailing (men’s 49er, Nathen Outteridge and Iain Jensen).
The women’s 10m platform diving final will be held early Friday morning, with Australia’s Michelle Wu and Brittany O’Brien in contention, should they get through Thursday night’s semi-final.
The pick of the bunch:
9:00pm: (Thursday) – 1:20am (Friday) – Athletics – men’s 50km race walk
2am – 5:45 am: Sailing – men’s 49er final
5am: – Diving – women’s 10m platform final
9:45am: – Athletics – men’s 1500m semi finals (Mo Farah, UK)
