Australia’s Marcus Fraser missed out on a medal at the Olympic golf event, eventually finishing fifth – eight shots behind winner Justin Rose of Great Britain.
Fraser, who shot a sizzling eight-under 63 to open the tournament, still led at the halfway mark.
But a third-round 72 saw him slip to three shots behind Rose heading into the tournament’s final day.
And the world number 90 couldn’t go with Rose on the final day, firing another round of 72.

Rose held off a charge from Swede Henrik Stenson to claim a two-shot victory.
The Brit’s win was built on the back of a third-day 65 – and he held his nerve with a four-under 67 on Sunday.
Stenson shot 68 for the third day in succession to take the silver medal, one shot ahead of American Matt Kuchar.
Kuchar’s barnstorming finish saw him shoot 63 for the day.
Rose sealed his triumph by sinking an 18-inch birdie putt on the par-5 18th.
Belgian Thomas Pieters was fourth at nine under, seven shots behind Rose.
And a group of three – including Fraser, Spaniard Rafa Cabrera Bello and Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat – were tied for fifth at eight under.
Fraser only made it into the field after the withdrawals of Australia’s top golfers, including world number one Jason Day, who led the top four golfers in the world in opting out of the sport’s return to the Olympic stage.
