Rio Olympics 2016: Chalmers the hero as Australia claims bronze in medley relay

Australia has claimed bronze in the final pool event in Rio, with 18-year-old Kyle Chalmers the hero in the 4x100m medley relay.

Chalmers had a stand-out final leg, helping his team _ Mitch Larkin, Jake Packard and David Morgan _ to third place (3:29.93) behind the Michael Phelps-led USA (world record 3:27.95) and Great Britain (3:29.24).

Chalmers earned huge praise from his team-mates during their post-race chat with Channel 7.

“I can’t believe it,” Chalmers said.

“I was lucky enough to swim with these boys last year, and getting to swim in the final was incredible.

“It definitely has me motivated moving forward.”
